WELCOME TO THE BANKA KINGDOM UNDER HIS ROYAL  HIGHNESS MONKAM TOUKAM PAUL ARNAULD

Banka is one of the oldest dynasty in Western Cameroon. The Banka’s kindgom, the largest in the Haut-Nkam department, is also one of the most dominant and powerful. The Banka people are scattered around the globe. You will find Banka’s association not only in Cameroon but also in USA, France to name a few.

A little bit of history...

BANKA (NKA ') Nka' means Light; the light that enlightens people, that allows people to see. Mandjieu was the founder of the village. We do not know exactly where he came from. Nkwahom dethroned Mandjieu. It was by the trick that Kwahom managed to take power friom Mandjieu. Nkwahom came from the region of Noun in the Bamoun region. He was a great hunter and distributed meat to the village population. He crossed Fomepia, Fondanti before falling on Mandjieu Banka. Nkwahom was tall and strong. Mandjieu made him a soldier. In addition to the hunt he was a healer, and it was then that Chief Mandjieu made him the healer of his children and gave him women. He will take the opportunity to eliminate from birth all the boys of the leader. His own sons will grow up and marry the chief's daughters. This is how Nkwahom's family will grow to the detriment of the leader's. Nkwahom will organize a big party in the village under the authorization of the chef where he will be invited with all the honors. Under the prestigious place reserved for the chief, Nkwahom will have a large hole dug and will cover the surface with traditional loincloths and clothing. The big day comes, the leader wanting to settle in his seat will be trapped in the big hole. It is then that Nkwahom,  will ask the chief to remove his bracelets, all his jewels and pass them to him. He will ask the chief to give him the honors of chief, if not he will decapitate him. Chief Mandjieu will obey. Nkwahom will become leader and sent Mandjieu out of his hole. Mandjieu will retreat to his camp with some notables where he will oppose a resistance to Nkwahom which he will come out defeated,
